Building a bridal look

There is a photograph from your wedding that your family will still be looking at in thirty years. The Bridal Edit is our answer to that photograph.

A Vandami gold-tone bridal choker with matching jhumkas

Build it in this order

  1. Start with the neckpiece

It sets the scale for everything else. A rani haar wants a high neckline and room to fall. A choker suits a heavier dupatta and a bare collarbone. Decide this first, and every other choice follows it.

  2. Then the earrings

Chandbalis balance a choker. Long jhumkas want a neckpiece that sits close. If the neckpiece is layered and busy, let the earrings be the quieter piece, or the other way round. One of them should lead.

  3. Then the tikka

Match the tikka to the earrings rather than the neckpiece. It reads as one line across your face and looks off when it disagrees with what is beside it.

  4. Then everything else

Bangles, haath phool, nath, payal. Add in the order that matters to your family and your ceremonies, and stop one piece before you think you should.

Ordering for a wedding

Order early

Give yourself four to six weeks before the first function. Bridal pieces are made in small numbers and the popular ones go.

Order together

Pieces bought as a set are matched for tone across the same plating run. Bought months apart, gold tone can read slightly differently.

Check the weight

Gross weight is listed on every piece. A heavy neckpiece is glorious for photographs and long across a full day. Know what you are choosing.

Check the drop

Every piece lists its size and dimensions. Measure against something you already own. Our Size Guide shows how.

Exchange is available within 72 hours of delivery on unworn pieces, and customized pieces cannot be exchanged. Order early enough to leave room for it. See Returns & Exchanges.
