Last on, first off.
Jewellery goes on after perfume and hairspray, and comes off before washing or sleeping. This one habit does more than anything else to keep a piece looking new.
The essentials
Keep it away from chemicals
Perfumes, cosmetics and sprays dull plating faster than anything else.
Keep it dry
Avoid contact with water and sweat. Remove before bathing, swimming or exercising.
Store each piece separately
In its original pouch or box, so pieces do not scratch one another.
Avoid heat and humidity
A cool, dry drawer beats a bathroom shelf every time.
Handle settings gently
Stones, pearls and delicate settings do not enjoy being tugged.
Clean with a dry cloth
Soft and dry, when required. Never a chemical cleaner.
Proper care helps preserve the appearance and finish of your jewellery for longer.
Care by piece
Where a piece has specific care requirements, they are listed on its own page under Care, alongside its base metal, plating and finish.
Anti-tarnish pieces
Pieces marked anti-tarnish carry a protective coat applied over the plating. This resists clouding from skin, perfume and humidity through ordinary wear, but it is a coating, not armour. The rules above still apply.
Repairs
If a piece is damaged after delivery, our team may be able to help. Wherever the damage is repairable and does not require stone replacement, additional polish, customization or replacement components, we may repair it without additional charge. Where extra work or materials are needed, we will tell you the cost before proceeding.
